Understanding the Dangers of YogaPosted by j2wu on January 28th, 2010
It is so interesting to see Christians involved with Yoga! Yoga is not a Judeo/christian word nor a part of protestant teachings. It is not found within the King James Verson of the bible.
It is a Hindu word, or more correctly a Sanskrit word from the Vedic civilization. So, how did we get “Christian Yoga”?
Yoga originated over 5,000 years ago in India and was originally practiced by Hindu Ascetics. All yoga exercises are for the explicit purpose of awakening the chakras.
Christianity cannot be integrated with yoga and remain a Christian. Why is that? Hinduism is the soul of yoga “based as it is on Hindu Scripture and developed by Hindu sages. ”
If a Christian trying to adapt these practices will likely disrupt their own Christian beliefs. East is east and west is west and they should never be twained together. Two different religions.
The practice of Yoga is pagan at best, and occult at worst. Its teachings emanate from the EAstern religions, self is God. The goal of yoga is self-relaization-to look deeply within to waht ought to be the temple of the one true God and to disver the alleged true Self or higher Self to be God.
Side Effects of Yoga:
There are adverse effects were relaxation-induced anxiety and panic; paradoxical increases in tension; less motivation in life; boredom; pain; impaired reality testing; confusion and disorientation; feeling ’spaced out’; depression; increased negativity; being more judgmental; and, ironically, feeling addicted to meditation. If you are a christian involved with yoga, you probably have a harder time staying in the word or staying awake in church. Yoga is an occult practice which opens your mind to the second heaven, the demonic world, to draw you away from God.
John Ankerberg says “When Westerners employ yoga techniques as a means to improve their health, they shold understand that they can also be producing subtle changes within themselves which will have dramatic spiritual consesquences that will not be fore the better. Regardless of the school or spiritual tradition, yoga practice trends to alter a person’s consciousness in an occult direction.”
What happens when you do Yoga?
When Kundalini has been awakened, as a result of secret yogic techniques, she rises through the chakras of the spine slithering like a snake upward to reunion with Shiva at the crown of the head. When god and goddess unite in sexual embrace, enlightenment occurs, illusion vanishes, and there is only One. This rising Kundalini flow also causes one to go into an altered state of consciousness, as the heart chakra opens. This can be one of the most dangerous practices in yoga and is not to be underestimated in its ability to harm. Connected with the Kundalini practice is an elaborate occult system that sees the human body as integrated to within and without. The occultists world view is summed up by the statement as “within so without.” The Beatles sang a song influenced by the Maharishi “life flows within you an without you.” Yogis have the ability to slow down their breathing surviving on almost no oxygen and to remain motionless for hours, thus freeing themselves from the supposed “illusion” of this life.
The hazards of yoga is prematurely awakened Kundalini. More disturbing is the fact that many people taking meditation or yoga classes are not forewarned about the potential for Kundalini complications. When the fireworks start, the teachers, and most Gurus, are powerless to help (Spiritual Abandonment is more widespread than you would imagine) in spite of any assurances to the contrary. I have heard from many people who have found this out to their dismay.
Biologically, what is happening when you do yoga it has an impact on the physical body stimulating organs and nerve centers. Meditation and breathing techniques influence the flow of prana (life energy). When the mind and body are in harmony you are then able to focus on spiritual goals…Not only does it calm and center you,…. “Hatha Yoga teaches you techniques that are related to the physical control of the body. Rythmic breathing methods called Pranayama and postures known as Asanas are used. The word Hatha consists of two polar opposites. Ha means sun, Tha means moon. Ha is masculine, Tha is feminine. Hatha Yoga is the most popular form of Yoga.”
‘Kundalini is a Sanskrit term that means coil or spiral energy that is aroused through use of Yoga. This energy may channeled through the chakras. Kundalini is often associated with the Goddess Kali. It is sometimes shown as a coiled serpent. ” This also leads into Aura colors.
Other effects from yoga:
Short or long-term disorientation where one spaces in and out of higher planes and is rendered unable to focus long enough to be able to work. I have seen a number of cases where people have been debilitated by Kundalini and struggle for years trying to correct the imbalances, often with no success and much despair.
Sexual dysfunction: I know of several people unable to have
normal realationships with their partners due to the workings of the Kundalini current in the genital areas. I have read of others with the same conditions. This usually passes in time, but I know of indiviuals who have been burdened with it for years.
Gastro Intestinal Disorders: I once had a condition that a Guru in India said was caused by my raising Kundalini energy pressing upon the colon area. Other people, like Jerry (see his story in the link above), have suffered worse fates.
Severe anxiety: when Kundalini becomes overwhelming, it can make one feel as though they are on the brink of losing their mind, and cause constant fear.
Nightly dreams where one leaves the body; in some cases a person feels as if they are being tormented by negative entities that seem too real and cause one to wake up in total fear, thinking they are doomed to experience these hellish dreams over and over.
Excessive Kundalini building up in the head when one tries to study or read for extended periods of time along with waking up all through the night from the increased Kundalini energy flowing into the brain (this can put an end to a person’s pursuit of higher education, as I can attest, and leave one tired all day from insufficient sleep).
Reality of Yoga
New-Age techniques, the most popular, yoga, almost always involve some form of meditation that is to bring you into a state of peace, enlightenment, open the door of physic knowledge, and can bring extraordinary power. But this power is an illusion of self-grandeur, it is occult, and very dangerous because the spirit you invite into your mind, is a demon or fallen angel. You are NOT uniting with a higher-spirit, an ascended master or a spirit-guide, you are uniting with a counterfeit spirit who is delighted to deceive you into thinking it a positive force but in truth is demonic.
What Does the Word Say
Christians need to know that we are not to delve into the spirit world.
Deut 18:10-12 says “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord…”
In Yoga the self is God… In Christianity one denies self……… Choose now.
Choose the Lord Jesus Christ, for……….. “No man can serve two masters”. Mat 6:24
Yoga is a practice of the Hindu religion so why participate with another religious practice.
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Jos 1:8)
That means your mind active engaged and not passive. Have you heard the saying “a passive mind is the devil’s workshop”. Hmmmm
